take care of that foot! best thing probably to stay off of it, easier said then done though, especially with it being summer time and with your work, but hoping for as speedy a recovery as possible! hugss

Nope, not me on a scooter. I ride only as a passenger on DH's motorcycle. grin

What kind of car do you drive, Lisa? If I'm driving, it's in my red convertible Honda. (Now that I have only a splint....when I had the cam-walker, I had to drive our blue van. My car isn't automatic.) Zoomzoom cool

What are you doing for 4th. We are probably going downtown for fireworks. Had lunch at that Mexican place up by Charleston's (name escapes me) and they are pushing their fireworks and the fact that we could also see Rhema's. We'll still probably go downtown. You could probably see both of those from your house?

Sue, To totally stay off this ankle, I'd have to use crutches and that's a major issue at work. Too much up and down and getting around. Being on vacation, I usually didn't walk enough to be really impaired. Going back to work showed me how messed up it was. The cam-boot helped, but doc felt it was overkill for level of swelling at this point. The splint has helped. Not spending 8 hours on my feet last night helped, too. It's beginning to heal now. Today was the first day I didn't feel totally weak in the ankle.

It's too bad we don't live closer. I have a lovely crop of Comfrey in my garden. I've been growing it for 12 years now and was to have had a truly good patch of it this year for harvesting. Then my neighbour and I put a new fence in and one of the posts was right beside my Comfrey. They pulled a whole mess of it out by the roots, traumatized the rest and when I complained, asked why I was so upset over a bunch of weeds. It's a good thing we were on the phone or my hands would have been around his neck in a trice. Weeds, indeed. So, now, my Comfrey is half its size and I'm not harvesting this year. But I would have pulled off a few leaves for you to make a poultice.

Here's a really good article from the Cambridge Journal on Comfrey: Comfrey Article

You know, if the comfrey tabs are gel-caps, you could empty the comfrey out of them and make a paste to apply to the ankle. You'd probably need a ton of gel-caps to do it, tho. If you have a traditional herbalist in your area, you might be able to buy the actual leaf.

Hugs,

Kat

Thanks....planning on staying off it all weekend, except for the pilgrimage to downtown to watch the fireworks. It's getting better now, swelling is still the same, but pain is slightly less. Or I'm just getting used to it. argh. But if I venture out...I'll try to hit one of the health food stores to see if they have any comfrey. (The name evokes 'comfort', i.e. 'comfy')

Sad that someone couldn't recognize a tended garden as different from a bunch of weeds. I would have helped you throttle him.

Um..a red convertible honda..lol are you freakin kidding me??..well I actually walk everywhere I go..lol no we have a light brown mercury mountaineer and a red ford explorer. We live REAL close to Rhema, may actually be there..are you talking about Las Cabos? we love both them and charlestons if you are talking there we are probly driving and walking right by each other all the time..lol

We have to get together one of these days..Im not too sure though you sound a little to hip for me..lol Im telling ya red convertible and sea turtles, all I can come up with is dirty laundry and chasing our Chi around the house with the toilet paper roll in his mouth..lol you may be a little too classy for me..lol

I wish that ankle would heal quicker for you, seems like its taking a long time.

Hugs

If 'hip' means bum hip....that's me. Piles of dirty laundry. Laying of the concrete board in the bathroom, prep for tiles. Itchy red bloodshot eyes-dizzy feeling. Then, MTX last night. DH got me up at 6:30 and said 'let's go get breakfast' all cheery-like. Wanted to club him. So I may have gotten 3 hrs of sleep. Quite the glamourous life. Now it looks like rain in the forecast....sucks. Afraid to take a nap for fear I'll not sleep tonight again.

My other car is a beat-up ford van. And I don't have a pool....LOL.

Doc said it may be 6 weeks to heal ankle. It's better, but still have a nagging limp. Another 2 weeks, if it's not better, I'll try to get referral back to the ortho-foot doc, the one who referred me to rheumatology.

Yeah, Los Cabos. Menopause took all the memory cells out of my brain. Does the little Chi do any swimming? Ya know those water wings for the kids....get one of those-put it around his middle? Just kidding. Lack of sleep causes strange thoughts.

Well, ankle has been wonderful (or nearly so) for a couple of weeks. It must have been too long.....stubbed 2 toes 8 days ago. Put up with it for 8 days, 6 of which were spent working. Then decided it had been hurting too long and went to doc today. Xray showed what I was already suspicious of....fracture. Back to my old friend the cam walker boot FOR A MONTH!! Then re-xray to make sure it's healed. At least it's not displaced.

Thanks, Kurumi. I need some healing vibes, for sure. Still hurts, even with the cast, although walking is a bit easier. Can almost do it without limping. Sort of a wobble to-and-fro sort of walk. And slow, too. I've gotten my money's worth out of this boot. Had it for 8 yrs and used it at least 5-6 times. LOL.
