Ok, I am asking for a friend. Is there anyone here with FIBRO who could recommend a doctor...Toronto Area? The Rheumy's in our town (Waterloo) really blow and the Fibro Doc at Toronto Western Hospital (where I go) passed away last year and no one has filled in.

Inanna? Mig? Anyone else? Any suggestions would be great appreciated.

Thanks!

Amy:)

Unfortunately, Amy, my doctors cannot agree as to whether or not I have fibro, so I've never seen a fibro doctor. Not much help, I'm afraid.

Mig?

Warm hugs,

Kat

Sorry. A few years ago, my first rheumy at TWH did all the points for fibro. I nearly went through the ceiling on 11 of them. He actually asked if it really hurt that much. I responded through clenched teeth to the affirmative. And he agreed fibro was a factor.

About six months later, he checked them again they weren't quite so tender. So, he said fibro isn't a factor.

I related this to my GP at my yearly that year and she scoffed at him changing his mind. To her mind, fibro flares just like other arthritis. That being the case, it makes sense that one visit I'd go through the roof and the next I might not.

My proof that I have fibro is all the pain in my muscles even on biologics. Nothing touches it except my favourite salve.

I hope your friend gets someone to listen soon. She's lucky to have you helping. hugss

Warm hugs (and it's good to see you),

Kat

I had a dr in Toronto who is a fibro doctor. He knows his stuff, but also has 0 personality and bedside manner. But you will get diagnosed properly. It takes about seven months to see him, and then there is only one appointment per person; he does not do recall patients, and now follow ups. Let me know if you want more details.

I'm actually going to a rheumitologist in Toronto that deals with arthritis and Rheumitology together. That is on Tuesday. I will keep you posted.

Sorry I can't help Amy. I don't have fibro. I didn't even know there were specialists in fibro, until reading about Sam's experience, once upon a time.

Good luck to your friend!
