If you want to use this QR code (Quick Response code) just save the image and paste it where you want. You can even print it and use it that way. Coffee cups, T-Shirts etc would all be good for the QR code.

Two quick non-invasive test that may indicate AS
Stand against the wall if you can not make a four point contact to the wall, both heels, hips, shoulders, and back of head would indicate a possibility.
Lay on the floor keep one leg straight bend the other one back toward your chest if pain occurs in the hips may indicate AS.

Thanks! I have dx, but tried the four point...shoulders dont make contact with wall... I tried my best to stretch my sad neck and shoulders with no luck. Tried the leg. Managed to get stuck on floor! Didnt get my usual hip pain, but bad sciatic pain. Good suggestions. I got that 2nd one done by my physical therapist yesterday. take care... Buggy

THis is a trick question. first one is easy. I took sledgehammer to nice sheetrock wall hitting it about 3 foot high causing it to collapse to about a 135 degree angle. The collapsed wall rested perfectly on my shoulders once my heels were to the wall. Then of course I fell for the trick. I got on the floor and tried part two of the test. Well 6 hours later and 8 paramedics I'm finally off the floor. SO I guess I only have AS when I'm laying down.      stevec-they also serve who stand and wait

Steve, So just stand up all the time and you're cured! Very happy for you -- congrats! I did it, and my shoulders won't touch when I'm against the wall. I tried the floor thing once upon a time, thinking it was a good way to stretch, and for a week my back hurt. Never again. I think there's a reason for many "reads" but very few replies -- once we get down there, we're stuck! Patty My birthday, in 2001. Look closely -- you can see (in my glasses) what we ate and drank!

Patty ... I thought when I layed on the floor....okay...I can DO this....pain..good pain...good stretch...okay..hips are locked....sciatic pain. Art is snoring big time, in a big kinda way....there is NO way I am moving. I'm a goner! Then I have this nice round stomach that does not help!! Luckily I was near the bed rail...and rolled over enough to pull my lifeless body up. Sofia was trying to help..but was only stepping all over my lifeless body. Buggy

OMG! Buggy! I'm getting a picture of this, and it isn't good! We won't be trying this again too soon, will we? (Chant with me: Ve gas, Ve gas, Ve gas, Ve gas, Ve gas!!!) Hugs, Patty My birthday, in 2001. Look closely -- you can see (in my glasses) what we ate and drank!

Patty you read my mind. I even tried it. Refused to get off my feet. Declared myself cured. Stood up for weeks at a time. Finally some fool saw me fast asleep on my feet figured only horses do that and next thing I know I'm in a stable and 100-1 shot at the Kentucky Derby. Saddled me up and entered me under the name SorryAS. I might have had a shot at winning but I drew a lousy post.     stevec-they also serve who stand and wait

We should put a warning on this not to attempt before noon and only after the hot shower. Frigging yoga habit. This is why they never believe me until they get a decent x-ray. I can get the four-point wall contact but I really feel like I want to tip over and my knees are flexed. On the hip thing that is a standard stretch but my God do it on a bed or you will torque your lower back.
The horses standing to sleep reminds me of a funny story. When a mare is near due I will go out at around 2 am and check to see if anything's happening. One night last year, I don't remember why but I think it was because I had a cold, my husband goes out. Now, when I go out, I don't want to disturb them so I don't turn on the lights (I have a flashlight) or go in next to them, I just stand there and they either come up to me and I touch their chests to see if their body temperature is elevating, or I watch them and listen and count their rate of breathing respirations. Plus I don't want to be stumbling around in the dark. You think pregnant women get grumpy, you should see a 1200 lb horse with a 200 lb belly lying there snoring....you don't want to start waking them up every night or they get pissed. But poor husband goes out and sees poor Buffy lying there grunting in her sleep and he gets all excited not knowing she is normally down at time to dream and dashes in and BENDS OVER and touches her....
and she wakes up out of that deep REM sleep and bites him on the shoulder!
She then took her revenge upon us and went a week overdue so it was about a 3 week period I got to trundle down to the barn every night to check for.... nothing. Then she foaled at 7 am one morning. She still looks at him suspiciously once in a while but has never been but sweet with me. Of course I remain standing when I check her.... just another example of how this can actually be an advantage.
