If you want to use this QR code (Quick Response code) just save the image and paste it where you want. You can even print it and use it that way. Coffee cups, T-Shirts etc would all be good for the QR code.

Hi there. I just had my first Reiki session today. I must say that this is for real. WOW. I had been experiencing some minor tightness in my chest the last couple of days. When the lady put her hands on my colarbone region I saw some sort of symbol kind of flash before my eyelids followed by this real interesting feeling in my chest. It tightened, but it wasn't unpleasant at all. Didn't hurt a bit. Things just seemed to "swirl" there. Hrm, it's kind of hard to explain. The session lasted an hour and a half and it covered the whole body, from the top of my head to the tip of my toes, front and back. You can remain totally clothed minus shoes or any heavy belts or objects in your pockets, and they won't touch you anywhere naughty, so no need to worry about that either! I feel good though and I really think that the session was beneficial. I guess a good way to explain it would be getting the same kind of release you can get with a deep tissue massage without the pain and discomfort sometimes associated with it. Here's a link that talks about Reiki in more depth. http://www.reiki.org/FAQ/FAQHomepage.htmlTake care! Hi Codias, I made your link clickable. Edited by Loz on 10/21/01 12:18 PM (server time).

My sister does Reiki. She also does it on animals. Apparently she has helped alot people with it and believes highly in it. I haven't had a chance to find out the benefits of it personally because she lives in AZ. She gets upset that she's so far away and can't help me. Sounds like it was great for you and I hope you continue to benefit from it. Take Care, Lisa

Actually I've been told that Reiki can be done over distance if need be. There are three different levels of Reiki and you need to be at least level 2 to do that I believe. I'm no expert, don't get me wrong, but I'm pretty sure that's correct.
It's funny that you mention animals. The person that was doing the Reiki for me today mentioned her pets. I guess when she does Reiki and the cat's in the house it'll try to go through the door to get in there! Pets are supposed to be real Reiki junkies! I was just reading your thread about your surgery and I want to say that I hope all goes well.

My sister never mentioned the long distance thing to me...I'll have to ask her about it. I'm up for just about anything that may help. She has told me about the pets being reiki junkies, said it's like catnip to a cat. I think that's hilarious. Thanks for the good wishes for the surgery Take Care, Lisa

After doing a good deed for a lifelong friend last year he and his wife gave me a very thoughtful gift. A voucher for three Reiki treatments. Problem was that their Reiki guy was about three hours away in upstate NY. I went since the concern was genuine and deep. I believe Reiki can be done where the practioner actually has minimal phsyical contact or where he/she simply hold there hands above you. Well the therapist never touched me but when his hands were over my achiest parts I actually felt the heat emanating fromhis hands. I went back for the other two visits. I t seemed to have some sort of effect. Part of the sessions was simply me and Asunam (the practioner) conversing, but it was a unique experience. I have tried others but none who actually generated the energy that he did. stevec-they also serve who stand and wait

My mom does distant Reiki for me regularly. She is in India and i stay in the US. I cannot vouch for the immediate effects of distant Reiki, but i can tell you something about the experience when i am with my mom. WOW! I am not sure what is does to AS, but in general it is very very relaxing. I used to doze off in 5 minutes, did not matter what time of the day. I have also learnt it myself, and i like to think of it as a different form of meditation.
They say when you start Reiki, the first few times you might get worse. It has actually happened. Once i called up mom and told her my hips had gone worse suddenly. She says that she started (distant) local Reiki on the hips the day before. Happened to me more than once. Coincidence? Depends on what you believe. I believe this is real.

PS: Mom's are amazing, aren't they? No wonder she says "You only take in this relationship" :-) I owe my life to her.

I also experienced worsened symptoms from time to time. My AS concentrates in my ribcage, and one of the after effects of reiki sometimes is a major tightening up there. If I drink a lot of water (2-3 liters) it helps a ton though. From what I've heard it's a part of our chakras balancing back out. I guess water would help maybe because it's a good conductor of energy/electricity... ?
I also doze off quite often in the session. (sessions with my practitioner last 1.5 hours) I'll often see some pretty funky stuff too. Love it.
I get Reiki 1-2 times a month. It's an invaluable part of my AS treatment.
Take care.
Cody.

Hi Codias, That is a great link you posted, thanks! I've been looking for information on Reiki since having a healing on Saturday. I'm really keen to learn it, not just for myself and for friends and family too. It's interesing to see the links for nurses using Reiki too, I didn't realise how far-reaching this practice was. This thread was so well-timed for me, thankyou for that! To hear that cats are Reiki junkies made me howl, as an owner of (or being owned by?!) seven cats it looks they'll have some fun with it!! :)) Best wishes, Jan

I have an idea that I practiced on someone. I tried to use accupuncture technique by using my finger tips and pressing on the body where the pain is. I focus the "heat" generated by the fingers to a specified point on the body which was pointed out by the "patient". example a point on the neck: localised area where the pain is. I then generate good thoughts of the body healing but e.g. telegraphing to the patient that his/her body is healing, and the pain is going away. I clear my mind of negative thoughts so as to avoid "negative energy" going to the patient. By focusing with a clear and positive mind the process will be effective and smooth. I learnt this from watching in a movie, a person placing both his hands on a weak person's back (both people are sitting upright) and transferring energy to the weak person. I believe that we can use our energy from within our body to regenerate the blood flow and relieving the pain of the body. I hope to talk about this more and also to get some feedback from anyone who wish to contribute. see u later, got to go.....
