627 posts!!!!!!!!!!!!

Seriously you all! I go away for one little weekend and look at the havoc you create! Still sifting through them all ... there goes my medical education

Saw a doc in Toronto yesterday (spent a weekend in Toronto/Ottawa area - absolutely gorgeous this time of year). First of all - he was amazing - good beside manner - efficient - hopeful. He is strongly suggesting that I start treatment with Remicade - logistics to be worked out - but where there's a will there's a way.

Really tentative about telling you all this - for so many reasons. Its not immediate, I'm tentative about being hopeful, feeling guilty about receiving what seems to be limited resource ... etc ...

Anyhow, here's the reference. Of course, there are no long term trials, and a randomized control trial needs to be done with AS specifically (I might be traveling to TO and back if to take part in the trial if funding doesnt work out in Manitoba ... 50-50 chance of a placebo *gulp*) ... but I think it looks promising.

http://www.pubmed.gov/entrez/query.fcgi?cmd=Retrieve&db=PubMed&list_uids=11469469&dopt=Abstract

Let you know if we are able to find the dreaded funding now (doesnt it always come back to that???)

Well wishes -

Jeanna

Hey Jeanna,

Don't think of it as messing up your medical education. Just look at all the continuing ed your getting for free. You already have the knowledge of most rheumys. And know more about AS, RA, OA, and all those other *A's than many Doctors.

On the Remicade front... Go for it!! And I remember a little girl from Canada told me once, not to ever feel guilty about feeling good...
her name was Strutsy...something
When you feel good, we'll all feel good for you.

Good Luck, I really hope you get the remicade and it does for you, what it has done for me.

Chris

Thanks Chris (et al. )!

If I've said it once, I've said it a thousand times .... a girl couldnt ask for a better group of friends.
