If you want to use this QR code (Quick Response code) just save the image and paste it where you want. You can even print it and use it that way. Coffee cups, T-Shirts etc would all be good for the QR code.

I must be the first one diagnosed with AS. As a matter of fact anyone I know or knew never have/had back issues. Sometimes I wonder why me...how the hell I got it ?

AS is mostly from a lifestyle mistake but is influenced by the ability to develop it.

Genetics here….
my aunt has been dx'ed with psoriatic arthritis
I was dx'ed first with undiff spondy, now "just" spondy
others have it less severely but everyone has joint and back issues and GI issues
a great grandmother with "rheumatism" before these things specifically dx'ed
great grandfather with stomach cancer (part of the inflammatory process for us)
everyone in generations before the proton pump inhibitors had ulcers
For us, its family history. Probably starts in the gut for everyone and then develops into the joint (and other) stuff.
sue
Spondyloarthropathy, HLAB27 negative Humira (still methylprednisone for flares, just not as often. Aleve if needed, rarely.) LDN/zanaflex/flector patches over SI/ice vits C, D. probiotics. hyaluronic acid. CoQ, Mg, Ca, K. chiro walk, bike no dairy (casein sensitivity), limited eggs, limited yeast (bread)

Current research has shown that AS is largely genetic. Environmental factors may influence development of the disease in a genetically predisposed individual. I have an extensive family of AS. I have 2 brothers with the disease, as well as a number of cousins, an aunt and an uncle and most likely a grandfather. Two of my three children developed AS in their teens. Their brother, while HLA-b27+, does not have the disease.

But you have to remember that even though AS is genetic it says nothing about the trigger in its pathogenesis.
There is a lot there and patients have to be careful to see the whole picture, dr. Make the same mistake and are much better equipped not to do so but is the nature of medicine.

Nobody in my family has any joints problems at all. I'm the one lucky winner and can't figure out why.

My father also has AS, only him and I present symptoms, but have small family.
My dad´s 2 grandparents died before he was born. Neither of his parents (my grandparents had AS), but my grandmother had stomach issues from time to time.
My dad has one brother, no AS. I also have one brother, no AS.
Neither my brother or uncle (dad´s brother) were tested if they have HLA B27 gene.

AS may win some battles, but I will win the war.
