Hi everyone --

I've just moved back to Seattle and need to find a new rheumy. I'd deeply appreciate any recommendations from anyone on this list from the area who has a rhematologist they have (or had) that they really liked.

I'm generally pretty good on the maintenance front (and lucky for it), but the only thing I'd like to avoid is a doc who refuses to prescribe pain meds. Unfortunately, I've learned that I need them in order to function until there's something else that's as effective at managing my pain (which sadly hasn't worked out yet, despite years of trying out various other things).

Thanks in advance! Such a great community to be able to turn to : )

Hello there,

I know there are a few posters from Pacific Northwest here... but unsure how close to Seattle.

SAA website used to have message board to ask and find rheumy, but only to find, no information regarding if others recommended them.

If you are a sports fan, I imagine you are excited for the Seahawks.

Best to you,

Tim

I have Dr. Wang from the Road Clinic in Tacoma. He is okay but I have heard great things about Dr. Titova in the same office. I wanted to switch but they don't allow you to do that in the same darn office. I heard of other good Rheumy's up on pill hill at Swedish. I live over on the Peninsula. You are going to really need to find a good one as this is the roughest weather to live in with A.S.

In this state you will need to find a Pain Specialist at a pain clinic. Very few Dr.s, Rhematologist included will not prescribe pain med's and will refer you to a pain clinic. Mine is Olympia and he is top notch. Probably further then you want to go but they are here scattered all over the place.

Thanks Pea!

Yeah, got a pain doc and a GP, so your help is wonderful for locking down that last piece of the "wall-o-doctors" -- the rheumatologist. God bless 'em, though, it was a rheumy who finally diagnosed me (quite quickly) after going to doctors for 7 years trying to figure out what the hell was wrong with me.

I'll look into your recommendations -- thanks!

(And yes, 'tis the dark season here.)
