Hi again Everyone,

I was looking into buying some CoQ10 and some fish oil, and found them together in one product. Should I buy them together or separately? Is there a reason they are combined in one product/is there an advantage? Also, the one I found has soy lecithin listed in it and I seem to remember someone saying that could be a problem. This product says it's made with no starch so that's a huge plus.

Also what dose of each daily??

Husband diagnosed with AS in '92. Enbrel appx 2011- March 2013 when ER doctor temporarily terminated. Grateful to have finally found Kickas in April 2013 and NSD since May 2013. Since NSD no need to resume Enbrel. Enbrel only helped hip pain, did not touch chest pain. Since NSD, both hip and chest pain have improved. Still takes pain and other pills daily, but far fewer.

CoQ10 - The first times I took CoQ10 in large doses it made me almost suicidally depressed. My father tried it too and had the same reaction. By about the third or fourth time my body had acclimatised. Other than that nothing positive to claim.

Fish oil - I have used it on and off. Makes my skin nice and healthy, other than that I can't claim anything good or bad as a personal observation. Effect on AS has been zilch or as close as makes no difference. Disappointing given the amount of positive research behind it.

I tend to like to buy my supplements separately so I can get exactly what I want.

I'm currently taking ~3000 mg fish oil daily. I buy the noric naturals brand. expensive but I like it. I keep them in the refrigerator, figure they'll last longer.

I currently take 100 mg CoQ. I buy it from the vitamin shoppe. I take 100 mg daily. Doctor's Best, High Absorption.

The fish oil has helped my blood sugar and blood lipids. The CoQ may be helping my muscles (spasms), though I think the magnesium helps my muscles (spasms) more. Plus I take the CoQ because I'm on a low dose of statin.

Others say the fish oil helps their inflammation. Not sure how much it has been helping mine. But since its helping my blood sugar and cholesterol and figure it can't be hurting in terms of inflammation, I continue to take it.

My dr. has me taking CoQ-10. He says it replaces some of the stuff that statins remove from your body. It doesn't bother me at 200 mg. so I will take it. I prefer to take just what I need.

Hi Sue
Ahhh yes I think I had read about fish oil and increased HDL good cholesterol. Thank you for reminding me!!! :-)

I think I am a convert to turmeric & curcumin. Good anti inflammatory it seems, and good for Alzheimer's.. something that runs in my family (hence my interest in such things as homocysteine)
