Did you ever have the feeling that you have read this post before? smile

But, seriously, has anyone else found that their medication seems to be giving them dejavu?

I think it is the Lyrica which is causing mine. Ever since taking it, sometimes when I start to doze off, or just when I wake up, I have no idea of where I am, who I am etc. It is a very unsettling experience.

Now, over the last month, I keep having very strong dejavu.

How about you? (well it rhymed).

James

Hi James,

I have had a strong sense of dejavu for years, but I don't think it's medication-linked... I can describe in detail what is about to happen, what people will say etc... a bit freaky, really!

These days, every time I get up from a chair, or wake at 4 a.m I have a sense of dejavu, but that's thanks to this bl@@dy disease and too many years of experience of chronic pain... mad

All over again? grin

Hey James, I've had deja vu my whole life. Usually via dreams, parts of which actually happen. At one point I kept a dream journal and was able to refer to it when deja vu occurred. Now I don't keep a dream journal, but still have deja vu. I have times when I am hit by a strong sense of familiarity and I have learned to stop what I'm doing for a moment when that happens. Generally, I flash back on a dream I had months before and follow the dream through to its conclusion, which is generally right where I am in that moment in time. No kidding. It's freaky sometimes.

For instance, I was walking in a gift shop one afternoon, with a napsack slung over my right shoulder. Suddenly, I was hit by a very strong sense of deja vu, so I stopped in my tracks for a moment. Had the usual dream flash back and followed it to the very gift shop I was standing in. In the dream, I continued down the aisle, browsing at the nic-nacks they were selling. At the end of the aisle I turned right and my napsack (the very one that I was using when I had the deja vu, but which I was not using at the time I had the dream) hit a glass shelf, with dozens of little glass figurines on it, all of which smashed to the floor. Back to real life...I reflected on the dream for a moment, moved my napsack from my right to my left shoulder and continued down the aisle. I gingerly turned to the right at the end of the aisle and looked at the display. It was glass shelves with dozens of little glass figurines and had I not moved my napsack to the other shoulder, I would have smashed them all.

It would be easy to say it was a coincidence, but I had never been in that shop before. Usually I would avoid it as it's far too expensive, but that day they were having a sale and I thought I'd take a look. There is no way I could have known (by way of feeding the dream details, I mean) eight months before that there would be that particular aisle, that exact shelf and those exact little glass figurines. No way. But I did.

Suffice to say, I have learned to listen when I have that deja vu moment. It's happened far too frequently and far too accurately for me to do otherwise.

OK, you can call me weird now. crazy

I would ask you a couple of questions about your experience.

...when I start to doze off, or just when I wake up, I have no idea of where I am, who I am etc.

Would you clarify that for me? What happens with your deja vu?

This is total curiosity on my part. I have no idea whether a med could cause it. I know for certain it hasn't caused mine, as I've been experiencing it for over 30 years now and only started on meds during the last eight.

Warm hugs,

Kat

Hello Jimmy
Do you have any other symptoms other than the deja vu? And how often do you get the deja vu?

Hi Tinkerbell,

What a great name - I wonder how many others have tried for Tinkerbell!

Anyway, the Dejavu happens about once a week - and it is very strong - much stronger than I have ever had before.

The other symptoms apart from the lack of "consciousness" are just the tinutus and memory loss.

I've responded to InkyFingers and Inanna by PM, but the short answer is yes, I've always had vivid dreams that come true - is there a link with AS???

All the best,

James

Hasn't anybody found a scientific explanation for Deja Vu yet?

Just seems like a very minor malfunction, after all thoughts are electrical in nature, makes perfect sense that they might go around the old race track more than once sometimes roll
