I know it's good for gut healing but just don't know how to cook the darn thing. I always bake it with olive oil and salt. Is cooked/baked Okra allowed on NSD?

Hi, Rajj:

Yes, okra is a wonderful dietary component for NSD, but not so safe if you have recently had diverticulitis. My wife has prepared this by simmering in water (in a stir-fry wok) and vinegar, along with onions which are not necessary. I found that eating them with sour and spicy (Tabasco sauce or even Indian pickle or Vietnamese garlic sauce) distracted me from the yeccch! factor of the slime. We probably have to make our own gumbo, but that might be another form for fish/seafood lovers.

bon appetit,
John

Do you eat the seeds? Because the seeds turned black when I tested them with iodine.
