Has anybody tested slippery elm with Iodine. I'm thinking about using it as part of protocol for dibiosis (imbalance of gut bacteria).
My mum was talking to her chiropractor about me and he gave her some info about how disbiosis can cause a number of chronic diseases and conditions. This info even included the klebs-AS link. Any way it was very interesting so i will try and find if there is a way to upload some of this info later.

 Hi, ReBA:

No, slippery elm bark is not starchy, but the powder might have starch added to it as a dessicant or something.

Dysbiosis does contribute significantly to the AS problem. Any information you have would be appreciated.

 Regards,
 John

Please do share the knowledge... knowledge is power!
I looked into Slippery Elm supplements at one time for healing, but never took the plunge after investigating.

Hi there, I take Thompson's Slippery Elm tablets, and the bottle says "no starch, wheat, salt, corn, yeast, nuts, gluten, artificial colouring, flavouring or preservatives". Covers everything I think! Cheers, Jo. | | |

 Hey Jo,

Just a heads up on the Slippery Elm tablets.... I bought this exact same brand for Jon yesterday as he's having a bout of gastritis at the moment. Thought it might be worth a try.

Bottle claims no starch but when tested with iodine it went BLACK BLACK BLACK! Took it back to the pharmacy and got my money back.

Not sure if this is false advertising or if they simply mean no ADDED starch.... so perhaps the bark itself is starchy. Dunno

On the SCD site, it is listed as "illegal" due to its being starchy and providing food for the bad bacteria in the gut. I'm not sure if this is helpful for those following the NSD here. http://www.breakingtheviciouscycle.info/legal/legal_illegal_o-s.htm
