I'm pretty new here and in some other posts mentioned that I have been recently diagnosed and just saw my Rheumy a week ago. I dont have much damage or pain which is good but he still wanted to try me on Relafen for a month until my next visit. I took the pills for three days and started to notice some side effects. Basically i had fatigue and lightheadedness with some bloating in my stomach. I could deal with that but then I noticed I was peeing way more than normal and I was not consuming extra fluids. I looked up the side effects and it said if there was a change in the volume of your urine it was a serious side effect. I called the Pharmacist and she confirmed that and so I stopped taking it. The question is, do I call my Rheumy and ask for a new med or just wait the month til my next appointment and then discuss. I am not really having much pain and I dont think the Relafen was going to protect me from damage so I am thinking of just waiting til my next appointment and using the random advil if anything hurts. Has anyone had any similar experinces with this drug?

Chris

i would probably call the doctors office and ask the nurse or doctor or whoever returns the calls. they may tell you to just wait, or may tell you something else. probably best to let the doctor make the call, but don't let someone over the phone try to talk you into taking the drug, side effects can have serious consequences. i think you were wise to discontinue the drug, as you said, it wasn't saving your life.

Relafen is one of the safer nsaids. They can all mess up your gut but relafen seems to do so less often.

Frankly it was a good choice if it works and you need to be on a nsaid.
