If you want to use this QR code (Quick Response code) just save the image and paste it where you want. You can even print it and use it that way. Coffee cups, T-Shirts etc would all be good for the QR code.

Anyone know any particularly great doctors in the Seattle/Tacoma or Dallas/Fort Worth areas? I'm also up for Houston. I have a referral for a rheumy, who I hope will be good. I would like to see what my options are in case I end up at a dead end. Still trying to get a dx. I feel deep down I have AS. I don't want someone to just tell me I have it... I know I can find a doc to say anything if I look hard enough. I just want someone who knows what they're talking about to tell me either way! : ) Thanks! Aly

Sorry, no help here either. Bumping up the thread for you.
Betty (also her log in name) used to be a regular here from Dallas a couple years back. You may try sending her a PM to see if she still checks in from time to time.

Hi Aly,
Sorry I can't help you out with either of those places but if you were in central CA I know a great rheumy there. My oldest lives in San Antonio, but I see Buggy had that area covered.

Aly, hi, i don't know of any doctors to suggest, however, another member here told me that if you become a member of the Spondylitis Association of American, you can obtain a book of recommended doctors; at least i think that i am correct on that. i think membership is fairly inexpensive. here is their website: http://www.spondylitis.orgsue
sue
Spondyloarthropathy, HLAB27 negative Humira (still methylprednisone for flares, just not as often. Aleve if needed, rarely.) LDN/zanaflex/flector patches over SI/ice vits C, D. probiotics. hyaluronic acid. CoQ, Mg, Ca, K. chiro walk, bike no dairy (casein sensitivity), limited eggs, limited yeast (bread)

HI, I am in Federal Way, just south of Seattle, and my rheumy is in Seattle. His name is John Eggert at Group Health. He also recommends Dr. Mease at Swedish. that was when my old employer dropped Group Health and I asked Dr. Eggert for recommendations and he recommended Mease. Now that I got a job at Group Health, I get my rheumy back.
Dr. Eggert is really nice guy, very caring guy. His first words to me when we met in 2006 was "I'm so sorry it took you so long to get this dx"..

Sure glad Cherkibbs came up with an answer for a Rheumatologist in Seattle. I had looked up a few and was going to recommend calling the Seattle Rheumatology Associates to see if they could give you any info, but having a personal referral from someone experienced is much better.
If you need to go in the Dallas area you might look for a medical specialist referral service through the yellow pages online and give them a call. Now that it is time for me to head off to bed my brain fog has lifted and I am thinking more clearly.

Hi, I havent made it to this site forever, but saw your post and thought I would respond Dr. Mease is a VERY good doc..probably one of the best in the area for AS. BUT he is extremely busy and focuses on research and teaching from what I hear from other docs. I was told I would probably be better off with another choice. I just moved to Seattle from Boise recently. Right now I am seeing Dr Mohai at Minor and James medical center near downtown Seattle. Minor and James has many good rheumys to choose from too. I got a new family doc who recomended a doctor named Dr Wemple I believe. I also remembered seeing her name as voted one of the best in Seattle magazine. The doctors in that issue are voted on by all the doctors in the area. I can look her up and post her info too if that would help. I plan on calling and getting the referral to see her too. If I can help in any other way, let me know. I would be glad to look up any info you need. I am also looking to join a local AS support group if I can find it. Jamie
