Megan - you have just the background for this kind of research - great combination of education in women's health and epidemiology. I hope this seed leads to a meaningful outcome.

Good thread Inanna.
No, no significant change in cycle. A small change, yes, but in the opposite direction of most women in this thread. Lighter, shorter!! This is the case both during a few years on Remicade and now on Humira.

Hi Kat,

I have just had my first infusion, and will be going for my second this coming Thursday. Unfortunately, I also have crappy endometriosis as well, which has really affected my flow and how I feel during my menses (ha! First time I have ever used that word!). However, I will keep an eye on it... I just had it and it was heavier than it usually is and dragged on for a day longer than normal as well. I will keep you posted!!

Take care,

Trina

I have noticed a trend of menstruation occuring more frequently--maybe a little too frequently?

It is averaging about every 3 weeks for the last few months, and before using ENBREL it was irregular (usually skipped).

Anyone have this type of experience?

Hi Bluejay, do you have access the women only forum? I started a thread about menstrual cycles after enbrel recently. In brief, I had very irregular periods since stopping the pill a year ago, much more painful, heavier and longer lasting, I would generally have one every couple of months or so. But, I was startign to regulate and was down to about every 5 weeks for a couple of months before I started the enbrel. My cylce then went back to 7 or 8 weeks and the second of my enbrel periods which was very painful and heavy lasted for SIX weeks!!! It turns out I have polycystic ovary syndrome and i'm worried the enbrel is making it worse. No doctor seems able to comment either way - have you discussed your changes to your cycle with your rheumy?

Sarah! Thanks for your response!

Actually, my situation is quite unique. I am abroad and recently moved, so I'm in a small town. There is no known rheumatologist in this area, so I would have to travel about an hour to the next biggest city. I would probably not be able to make it out there until several weeks from now.

There is a gyno around here which I am planning to make a trip to this week. Strangely, I got a sonogram about 4 years ago because my doctor thought I may have POS but they didn't find anything at that time! Perhaps I need another sonogram.

My periods aren't painful or anything.

Actually, I do not have access to the women's only forum. How do I get in?

-Blu

Hi Blu,... I've just given you access to the Women's Forum, so you should now be able to find it listed on the Main Index page.

Cheers!
