Thanks for the hug, I needed that. It seems the only good part of the day is my 4 hours of work. I can always count on a patient that seems to need a little extra support and encouragement with there therapy and in turn that helps me just to know they feel better and leave with a smile on their face.

manatee,

The last thing you want to do is not walk. I can't walk anymore and I miss it so much. I have had 8 surgeries in the past 5 years to fix my neck and back but everytime I had some thing fixed some thing else broke. I know how you feel but don't ever give up. It's people like you that make this world a GREAT Place to be. You are a strong lady and you will get through this it just takes time sometimes to get back on track. Hang in there you will be OK.

John

Thanks John,
I know "this too shall pass" .
I'm just having trouble getting myself geared up for 2 more surgeries. I don't want to do this anymore, but I have to do what I can to keep myself walking. I won't let this desease defeat me in the end.
Thanks
Cindy

I can't tell you how much your concern and support means to me. I never thought I would be in this end of things. It makes me that much more compasionate and understanding of my own patients. I really don't know how much more of this I can take. Oh well, one day at a time I guess.

Cindy, I'm so sorry that you are going through this. I cannot imagine what you must be thinking and feeling right now, but man what you've said makes me want to take those docs and whack their heads together for idiocy.

OK, so the 2nd doc recommends a full replacement, yes? Did either of them ever suggest exercises or physio to strengthen the quad muscles that hold the kneecap in place? Is it possible that this would help? I'm asking because I don't know in this case. I remember when I broke my leg five years ago (fracture of the tibial plateau - somehow I think you'll know where that is ) I did hours of physio every day to strengthen the quads in that leg. It's taken an awfully long time to get it back to full strength, but eventually I did it (like this year ). Would it help in your situation?

I can't believe that you have withstood so many surgeries. No wonder the idea of more just makes you want to run for the hills (if you'll excuse the expression). However, is it possible that this will actually help? If it will, I know you will be able to stand strongly on this one too. Especially with the KA family backing you up.

Whatever you decide, I know it will be the right thing for you.

Hugs,

Kat

Kat, Thanks for the support. I work in physical therapy and rehab other peoples TKR all the time. I have rehabed this TKR for the last 16 months, it's the strongest replacement on record . I guess the other doc might be right and I just don't have healthy ligaments to support the prothesis that is in there.

OK, that's just ironic.

Yeah, It's not like I don't know how to rehab a TKR. I have never had a patient's TKR do this in the 7 years I have been in working in PT.
