Hey, hang in there, that is heavy stuff, but if they rule out the aortic valve that means that AS is probably...not involved...but check everything...

My thoughts go out to you and Jon, if a pacemaker can solve the problem, check it out, I hope Jon pulls throught this with the least possible complications!

Peace
Linc

Hi Chelsea,

I'm so sorry to hear that Jon is in hospital and you're dealing with such a scare.

The first sign of my brother's AS was when his heart practically stopped beating entirely, and in ER they dropped in a temporary pacemaker. The doctors waited for days to see if his heart would start picking up the pace again on it's own, and thankfully it did.

Although this seems like an opposite trouble to what Jon is experiencing, I thought it would give you some sense of how well these things can and do resolve. My brother has never had a heart problem since, and has been free of trouble for 10 yrs.

I'll keep you both in my thoughts, and wish for his full recovery.

Hi everyone, thanks for all your replies and encouragement. You're the best!!

The test on Monday is one of those catheder ones where they thread the wire up to the heart. Hopefully this will all be resolved on Monday and Jon can come home. It's very weird being home on my own every night. In our 5 years of marriage we've only been away from each other for 1 night so this is really strange for me!

This is the info from the 2nd link posted by aerial (thanks for that)

"Cardiovascular involvement of clinical significance occurs in fewer than 10% of patients, typically those with severe long-standing disease. However, subclinical disease can be detected in many patients and may occur as an isolated clinical entity in association with HLA-B27.

Fibrosis of the conduction system may result in various degrees of atrioventricular block, including complete heart block.

They have told Jon it's a 1st degree heart block and right bundle block.

The interesting thing is that Jon's Dad, brother and sister all get the exact same thing with the racing heart and palpitations etc. They have always atttributed it to stress. But perhaps it is related to the HLA-B27 as Jon is positive for this and maybe they are too.

Since so many members of his family have been getting this for years and years and they aren't on any meds for it and haven't dropped dead or anything he is not too worried now and was even thinking of not having the test on Monday but I think he is just scared about what they will find and doesn't really want to know. I would rather find out so we can deal with it rather than always wondering.

Anyway, thanks again and I'll keep you all posted
Chelsea

Sorry to hear Jon is in the hospital. The heart is nothing to mess around with, so glad to hear it is being looked over. I recall my hospital stay and being NSD does make it more interesting. Hopefully his AS stays in check while in the hospital.

My prayers to resolution on the matter and that your anxiousness may be kept to a minimum.

Chelsea, it's Monday here in Canada - so it's probably almost Tuesday in NZ. How did it go? Is Jon home? Please know that he (and you) is in my thoughts.

Many hugs,

Kat

Kiwi,

I saw that you were on and wondered how Jon was doing?
