If you want to use this QR code (Quick Response code) just save the image and paste it where you want. You can even print it and use it that way. Coffee cups, T-Shirts etc would all be good for the QR code.

Hi Sonny,
At least in my family, I am the only one that has AS.
I am an only child. My Dad and my Mom tried to think of anyone on either side of the family that had any of the symptoms that I have since way back AS wasn't even thought of yet.
That doesn't mean NO one in my family had it, but so far we sure can't find any one that would link me to it.
For us the mystery just deepens,
Lisa

Wow, I can't actually believe it. I always thought maybe it's an illness that mostly effects one or maybe two in a family. Paula Thank you so much for your more than kind words. Bless you. Also is it not strange that black ppl don't get it so easily? Indians and white ppl are the great mayority. I wonder what do black ppl do (not knowing) to prevent AS. I myself never heard of a black person having AS, althought I believe there would be. Greetings

Hi there, I am the only person in my family to be diagnosed with AS. My aunt has IBS/D and one of her daughters has FM (her symptoms sound suspiciously like AS to me, but symptoms tend to be similar in both). We don't know where I got it, but then I always was special. Hugs,
Kat

Hi,
My father had it, my brother may have it but drowned our relationship in booze years ago so I don't know for sure...he did have back trouble as I recall. My son has had the classic early symptoms and tested positive but he's 33 and has no signs of active AS as yet...fingers and toes crossed. My daughter has back pain but is extreemly well endowed and blames the pain on that...she wants to get a reduction so we'll see.

My father and I both have AS. I have one brother, ditto my father and neither show symptoms.
Only two other family members I knew on that side were grandparents and neither had AS. So mystery which line or if both it was passed on from.

My brother was diagnosed with AS at a very early age of, I think, 20. My uncle also has it; he's bent over like a question mark. I thought I was in the clear before mysterious pains appeared last Dec/Jan (03/04); I was diagnosed (as predisposed to having AS, nothing really official, but HLA B27+, pains in all the "right" areas and rapidly progressing stiffness in my neck).
My mom is a nurse practitioner and tells me (rightly or wrongly) that the gene can only be passed through females -- in our case, she was the carrier, but she does not have AS. So it's odd to me to hear that a few of you have fathers with AS. I love telling her that she's wrong and this gives me an opening.

My father & I both have AS. My sister does not. I am hoping my children avoid it.
