If you want to use this QR code (Quick Response code) just save the image and paste it where you want. You can even print it and use it that way. Coffee cups, T-Shirts etc would all be good for the QR code.

I have noticed lately that I have been getting sharp pains in my my head - behind the eyes, ears, back of the skull, etc. - and slight dizziness.
Is this yet another factor of life with AS, or is it likely something else? I find that a good neck stretching session helps alleviate it.

Hi I get some stabbing pains in eye, headache at back of skull, earache and dizziness when turnin at some angles and is associated with my neck. Most of this has occurred since neck was injured in car accident though. How long has this been goin on for? Did it start from nothin? It mostly gets worse when i havin a flare up. Have u asked your DR about it? take care heather

Thanks for the reply, Heather.
It started about 2 weeks ago. This coincides with a flare that started a while back. Plus I spend a lot of time at work with my neck turned to one side...a lot lately. I try to stretch as much as possible, but sometimes, there's just too much to do.
The symptoms you describe are identical to mine. I have an appointment with the rheumatologist on Thursday...I'll bring it up then.
Thanks again;
Ken.

Ken,
it's pretty common, ususally nerves that run out of the spine in the top of the neck getting irriated etc, but you should run this by the Dr, getting the inflammation down can really help it,
Do not leave it as beleive me it can get alot more worse, that is barely the tip of the iceberg.

Ken, it's entirely possible that you are having some TMJ activity (the jaw joint). Stretching is good and also icing. And, as Dave says, get it checked out. Hugs, Kat "Our greatest glory is not in never falling but in rising every time we fall." - Confucius

Does the sunlight bother you by any chance? If it does then with this combo of symptoms think you should see your Doc. ~Kewanee

I don't know if it's because of AS. But, I do get the same symptoms.

I woked up and noticed I was not getting older...I am Old!!

I have, actually, decided this week to be no starch week and have noticed a decrease in the afforementioned symptoms. I have also ramped up the amount of stretching to a couple of times per hour.
One or both of these seem to have helped.
Thanks for all the responses...it's a "relief" to know others experience it...although a greater relief would be knowing none of you nor I have to go through this.
Ken.
