Friend,
It is a good job. I see lefties make up 20%, amazing. Probably I would suggest you adding one more field
to the tables- Genetic(Birth) abnormalities/deformities. I think it makes sense because auto immune diseases do have a genetic
component and the presence of other genetic abnormalities can be a strong indicator.

I myself have many of these genetic(birth) abnormalities, six toes on both feet, Eight completely misaligned teeth that
I bite my tongue very often while chewing and few other bone abnormalities. It would be interesting to see if other
ASers have similar conditions.

Hi Shane,

This is a very cool project you've developed, and I found it quite interesting to be able to view the results of so many ASer's in one glimpse.

I wasn't quite sure how to answer the family history question, since 'history' sort of implies AS existed in a previous generation. In my case, there is no record of AS in the previous generation but is evidence of B27+, and I do have a same generation family member (sibling) with an official dx of AS. So I answered yes, but I'm not sure if this is an accurate answer considering the question posed.

Thanks,

mig

Thanks mig. Yes I need to re-phrase that heading. It should include present generation family as well as those of the past. There is also a limit to the relation as to whether the genetics are of significance . I'm not sure what it is exactly at this time.

Hello Shane,

What a great idea and thank you for doing something that could prove constructive especially to people newly dxd. I remember the day I was dxd I had more questions than a 6 year old passing a porno shop. Thanks to some " old timer" ASkickers I have had some great insights and set expectations accordingly. I have no complaints with how you handled the survey, but I do offer a suggestion to ponder; how about adding in a few more catogorys? Crohns and irritis go hand in hand with AS for some folks and not for others the same can be said for length of time for flares ( mine seem to last forever but they are shorter than a lot of other peoples) Thanks again for doing that..

By the way folks happy belated holidays. Had intentions of posting sooner but my Christmas present from fate turned out to be Crohns. This makes me curious, is it common to be dxd with AS first or Crohns...... Any ideas?

Hello friend,

Just wanted to add some info. My son has been into a couple of car accidents which I believe activated his AS. My daughter at a younger age was in gymnastics and eventually had to quit because of her knees. As with gymnastics there is a constant pounding of knees, jumping etc..could have activated hers as well.

Great idea friend!

Hi Shane, thanks for posting this link. I'm thinking about getting in touch with the OSA about getting members to come to your survey to add their details as well. One thing I might suggest is asking about irits (it's sort of an issue with me right now), as it would be interesting to see how many of us have actually had it.

I think I want my rheumy to see this.

Hugs,

Kat

Just wanted to let everyone know that based upon some requests new fields have been added. Perhaps some of you may want to update their information.

Hey fellow Kentuckian!!! I just wanted to post again so this would be near the top. I hope as many people as possible will do this survey. It's great to see the results and the links between things. Great job Shane!!clp
