Oh no, of course not ---- and you don't like to see this kind of comment published in a respected medical journal like the Lancet presumably.

Risk of cardiovascular events and rofecoxib: cumulative meta-analysis

Peter Jüni, Linda Nartey, Stephan Reichenbach, Rebekka Sterchi, Paul A Dieppe, Matthias Egger

Summary

Background The cyclo-oxygenase 2 inhibitor rofecoxib was recently withdrawn because of cardiovascular adverse effects.......

Our findings indicate that rofecoxib should have been withdrawn several years earlier. The reasons why manufacturer and drug licensing authorities did not continuously monitor and summarise the accumulating evidence need to be clarified.

Nothing to do with the Federal authorities and their political masters?

I must apologise I did not realise this is an american only site, when your master ordered the execution of many many innocent people and you start praising him on an international site, I will take exception to comments like that, I also lost a cousin over there, but this site is not for poltical comments and was never intended by Brian when he set this site up for this to occur.
good bye

Hi Rat
Sometimes it does us good to get away from topics on AS for a while. It's good to come here and meet friends from all walks of life and differing points of view. We are all in the same boat, so to speak with regard to our illnesses, but it's nice to forget that for a while and talk about all kinds of things, even having a good laugh along the way. It's a very sorry world we live in if we can't learn to just accept others point of view and beliefs.

Sue

Rat, I am very sorry to hear that you lost a cousin over there. I can only imagine the pain that has caused you and your family. Please accept my sincere condolences.

However, please understand that this discussion was not started to begin flame wars or arguments. I started it because it was a question on the minds of many of us here. So very many of our KA family lives in the States, and they can't have helped but feel tension over the decisions being made this week. Frankly, I also believe that those of us who live outside the States were a bit curious as to how our American family members were reacting to the election results.

Hence my question and the way I worded it.

If anyone chooses to be offensive or take offense to this particular discussion, I invite them not to take part in it. It is your choice as to which discussions here you involve yourself in. We are, almost, all adults here. Adults with free will and the brains given us at birth.

Obviously, this is a topic that is hurtful to you. I understand that and I respect it. Given the now proven connection between stress and arthritis pain, I hope that letting some of that hurt out here helped ease the load you carry a little. That is the other reason I started this discussion.

KA is a safe place in which to discuss those things that affect our lives. We don't just talk about Ankylosing Spondylitis here, but about those things, big and little, that happen in our lives. The election in the United States is a big thing that has caused no small amount of stress - both for Americans and for those of us in other parts of the world who have wondered what will happen and what the results will be of the decision made. To my mind, it is most appropriate to discuss this here, in a safe environment, where adults are adults capable of deciding whether or not to make it into an argument, or whether to turn it into a lovely bit of fun-poking at the Canadian vocabulary (of which I approve most whole-heartedly, eh).

It's not about expressing hate, or vitreol, but rather of expressing emotions. Of expressing them in the hope that perhaps, in so doing, the emotional load will be lightened and ease some of the burden on our AS. Whether you take part, and how you choose to do so, is up to you. Rest assured, if the moderators see anything that is not within the spirit of KA, they will take action. You must trust them to do the job that they do so very well.

Many hugs,

Kat

Because, it's not in the nature of Canadians to assume that someone agrees with us. We're far too, erm, humble for that, eh.

You've never heard 'East Coasterners'? Stompin' Tom used that expression when accepting an East Coast music award a few years back. Said his award was for all East Coasterners. I heard that and it stuck in my head. It's just so lovely.

Hugs,

Kat

I agree! When I said that to me it was "Congratulations", I may not have made myself completely clear when I said it is because I feel so blessed to be in a country where we can express ourselves and vote. It touched me greatly to see the lines of people who waited hours to place their votes. We are truly a blessed nation.

Hey Sheila,

I bet that would have been quite a call had it not been a recorded massage. I guess it will be another four years before we get anymore calls like those for now. I hope you did not tell your son any difference, he'll be telling all of his friends you got a call from Curt.

Brent
