Hi everyone,
I haven't been about much lately, things haven't been so good lately. I have had a rather serious bout of Sacro Illitis. I landed in hospital for a week. I'm wondering if many others have had episodes of this and generally how long does it take you to get over it? I've basically had one major flare after the other for the past 18mths. I"m ready for a break!!
One good thing with all the bed rest - the bags under my eyes are almost totally gone!!
Take care and keep smiling,
Rose

Missed you Rose...
Glad you are back here!!
I havent had to be hospitalized for it...but the episodes are ugly!! I used to go to ER for Demerol shots when I could no longer stand the pain.

What did they do for treatment in the hospital?? My mom had a bad bout of sacroilitis last week. She called me in tears. She said her tailbone hurt so bad as well. She couldnt get in and out of bed without wincing. She finally went to ER and they gave her painkillers and an antiinflammatory med. Not sure which one. Mom said she has no idea how I can take that on an almost day to day basis. I just have to bite my lip from the pain....and so do many of the folks here! My si joints and tailbone are throbbing for me. Baby dropped down and I dare NOT lay on floor or any hard surface. I'll be stuck there for good!! you know my track record for sitting or laying on floor already!!

I do hope you get to feeling better soon. Glad the bedrest helped out the "peepers" a bit...

Dear Rose:

Well, this is how it starts--the classical SI fusion, that is. I spent all my non-working hours in cold plunge, hot sauna and Jacuzzi. This eases the pain immediately, but the best thing was fasting...or the NSD long-term.

Good luck,
John

Well, I was never told that I had sacroilitis, but I'm fused on one side of my SIs, so I suppose I did. I've always found that ice and heat help, and stretching as much as possible (and very gently). Other than that, no advice.

Too bad you couldn't have transferred your eye bags to inbetween your vertebrae, eh. T'would make life much easier.

Hugs,

Kat

Angie,
At the moment my drugs are numerous!! (indocid, methotrexate, arava, prednisalone, and nexium to stop all the others damaging my tummy oh and folic acid).
They gave me pain killers and sleeping tablets when in hospital but they didn't do all that much.
I'm slowly slowly on the way to recovery, I have to be back at work in 4 days. I don't know how that will go.
Hope you're baby isn't giving you too much grief, not too much longer now!!
Take care and keep smiling,
Rose

John,
I think there is nothing better than hot, but cold oh my goodness, everything spasms. Once the heat is gone things start to ache again. I"m slowly getting a little better, one of my friends came to visit me the other day and asked how much weight had I lost. I haven't lost any just all the extra fluid from my hips and knees!!
Take care and keep smiling,
Rose

Kat,
Did you ever get pain? I get a lot of SI pain, I never used to know what it was. This time I was hardly able to walk. Does the fused joint hurt much? Do you use any aides for walking? With the stretching I have started with a new physio - feldenkrais. They only do very small movements which were great when I was in hospital but I tired very quickly. I usually go to hydrotherapy once a week too - not lately.
Please only answer the questions you want to -(I just realised how confronting they may seem), I'm kinda in limbo at the moment. I would like to know what is going to happen not what might!!!
Take care and keep smiling,
Rose
