If you want to use this QR code (Quick Response code) just save the image and paste it where you want. You can even print it and use it that way. Coffee cups, T-Shirts etc would all be good for the QR code.

hello folks, Some of you may or not remember a problem I had a while ago regarding a prolapsed disc. Thankfully, the official and indeed correct update is that the damn thing has at last decided to settle down and after nearly a year I may get back to work. Unfortunately, the easing of my disc problem has coincided with a major SI flare (sod's law) which was nasty but my ribs have now become the target. My normal lower chest wall expansion is 5 and a half inches but now its only 2 and I'm walking around as if I either have several broken ribs or maybe have about twelve daggers in my chest wall!! Anyway, these kind of things are nothing unusual to most of you on here. Don't know about anyone else on here but my nature is to make no fuss whatsoever about what kind of pain or depression I might be suffering, afterall, I don't want to bore anybody! Anyway, this is how it is at the moment. My girlfriend's mother has a growth on her brain and she has to have an operation to save her life, and that will happen on Thursday/Friday this week, my birthday!! All celebrations are cancelled! And today I learn that my mam's sister, my auntie Norma, has had her leg amputated due to that awful flesh eating thing. I'm informed that my rib problem may not be just a flare but may be with me permanently and I have to attend hospital every Monday morning for the foreseeable future. Better care than a lot of people on here I know! Reading back on this post it actually sounds like I'm making this crap up it's so bad! but I assure you I'm not. As I write this I'm not a little drunk but quite a lot, what the hell else can happen? I hesitate to ask! I'm a big geordie lad with a wide pair of shoulders but I swear I'm being tested to the limit here. Thanks for reading this rather long post. Tim.

Don't worry about venting... you came to the right place. I can't talk a lot about my pain either, I don't want to become a complainer... no body really wants to hear it. But sometimes ya gotta cut loose. Hope you feel better and the family health crises blow over. (When it rains it pours) Darla

Hi Tim,
Sorry to hear about your problems and I hope all of it could go away soon and you can have some good things happen.
I have some un-pleasant surprises as well but sometimes life's is not like what we are expected.
Cheers, Sinta

Newcastle Brown was it? I used to love that stuff - but for some reason only directly out of the bottle, not the traditional half-pint top-up method. Yep, they breed you geordie's tough alright, but I guess there's a limit to everyone's tollerance. So - Lets count: 1) girfirend's mother, 2) auntie Norma and 3) your ribs - They say these things come in threes, so you should be clear of anything more for a while. (Sorry, but it's the best I can offer without suggesting dietary experiments). Hope things improve, and soon! Cheers, Loz " When feelings run deep, impartiality can seem like bias" Lord Reith

Worthington's and Bells Loz. Not recommended as part of a regular diet! Just a little aside from my slightly inebriated original post. This morning I received a birthday card from the aunt I spoke of. It was written in her own hand and I find the fact that she has remembered my birthday, organised the purchase of a card, written it out and had it sent, while lying in a hospital bed with that horrific, ongoing and very recent problem absolutely astonishing. Tim.

Hi Tim, Wow! what a great Aunt you have! It's amazing how some people will remember others no matter what they are going through. Don't worry about you making a fuss. If we don't talk about stuff then how will people know what's going on with us. We have to let things out once in awhile and explain to people how we're feeling. Sometimes people say..."this person or that person just doesn't understand what I am going through." Then in their next breath they say. "I don't like to complain, so I hold things in." Well, how is that other person supposed to understand if that person is keeping it all in and not letting anyone know what's going on? There is a difference between complaining and expressing your feelings when your having a tough time. It's not easy having AS and going through all that we do, but coming here and talking about things sure does make it a little easier and that is what KA is here for. Hope things start looking up for you soon and Happy Birthday to you! Hugs, Lisa
