Hi Guys,

Yesterday I went to my first Formula 1 Grand Prix My partner Gordon, received 2 free tickets, worth about $300 each from an advertising company which he had placed an Internet ad with for work. So off we went and arrived at 9 a.m. with our corporate passes (around our necks, like 2 groupies with backstage passes) wearing our best clothes (and looking a million bucks too, I might add) and our best behaviour. We walk into this indoor facility overflowing with gourmet food, drinks and waiting staff. The box had a perfect view of the starting line and was quite high up so you could see alot of the track.

Everything was fine until I decided to go up a level to the undercover viewing area outside. Walking my finest walk, and talking my finest talk, I arrive with FULL glass of Chardonnay in hand and small, long strapped handbag on shoulder. As I go to sit down a driver comes off the track right in front of the stand and the crowd go, "Whooo". I look to see what the fuss is about, the bag swings off my shoulder, knocks the glass of wine and yes, you guessed it, it smashes to the ground in a million pieces. I'm soaking wet and smell like I just had a bath in wine! My "Rich Kid For a Day" facade is over and I'm busted! It was a great, special day but gee it was good to get home and put on the comfy, clean, clothes again.

If I was down in general admission, in my old jeans, swilling straight out of the bottle as they do down there I probably wouldn't have cared, but.........NARRR!!!!!!

Cheers

Irene Butter Fingers.

Oooooh, I'm a racing fan! When I lived in Denver, I used to go to the Mile-High Nationals every year. Then, when I lived in Europe, and would drive from my house up to Belgium (antique shopping on Sundays), there's a piece of road that is part of the Grand Prix track. There are grandstands on each side, so as you're driving through there, you imagine the crowds cheering you on! OK, maybe not quite, but its cool to be at the Grand Prix for a few minutes.

Sounds like you had a great time! Heck, even the litle disaster -- so what?!

Patty,
So you're an NHRA fan too?? I went to my first NHRA event this past year at Chicago speedway. I had an absolute blast. I'm planning on taking my son with me this year to the event in Columbus, Oh. I can't wait!
