Thanks, rumble. Believe me, I WANT TO BE THERE EVERY NIGHT!!! Dear god, I want to be there every night. The thing is that directors who do attend every night wind up driving everyone nuts and the cast never really gets to relax into the show and grow with it. I generally attend once a week after opening, just to keep an eye on things, make sure nothing (ie. blocking, intent, the story we're telling, etc.) changes. My Stage Manager knows the show almost as well as I do. Well enough that if she notices something isn't the way it's supposed to be, she'll let me know. Otherwise, if I notice something while I'm there, I talk to her about it and she gives the message to the cast. I've only had to do that twice in the ten years I've been directing, so I consider myself lucky.
Dinner was lovely. I must admit to a bit of nervousness as we got into the elevator. Goodness knows what Alan breaking the tower with Mig's ice shack has done to the inner workings!!!

Warm hugs,
