Remicade is new-ish in the grand scheme of things, but the short-mid term stuff is fairly well-known now. To me, the unknown long term risks are not nearly as scary as the known risks that my AS progression presents to me. AS is the most pressing danger to my health.

This is the way I'm thinking of Remicade, too. It may have risks, but the eventual progression of this disease is scarier right now. Thinking I may not be able to continue doing the job I do (my job provides our medical insurance) is scary. Unfortunately, DH is thinking the worst about the Remicade. First infusion this week and I'm taking him with me so he can ask all the questions he wants to people who can reassure him that I'm not making a horrible mistake. Of course, there is the risk that he discounts all their explanations because they want me to have the drug....there is an element of risk of that happening--he is suspicious of 'the establishment'. But, just the same, I'll take him with me. He says he worries that I have a bit of Munchausen's.
