hi chris,
couldn't help notice your mention of APP; i'm assuming that that is alkaline phosphatase.
couldn't help but remember a conversation i had with davidp not too long ago about other possible markers (for those of us without the high CRPs and ESRs). one of those was an alkaline phosphatase.
while the two sound like different alkaline phosphatases, maybe this is your blood marker (and that of some other people) and maybe your pointing this thread out to your doctor, maybe it would lead somewhere? at the very least, maybe he's stop thinking you're a closet alchoholic, at the least. at the best, maybe you can help further science.
here's that link (if you search phosphatase, you'll see all the places we reference it):
thread where alkaline phosphatase is discussed ....ok, back from a little goggling.....
here's a link with further information about what elevated alkaline phosphatase can indicate:
elevated alkaline phosphatase my interpretation is that the blood test does not differentiate between bone and liver alkaline phosphatase. thus to indicate if its the bone enzyme that is elevated or the liver enzyme, to look at the other liver enzymes. if the other liver enzymes are good, then its probably bone alkaline phosphatase and not live alkaline phosphatase that is elevated.
putting your post and david's together, maybe this is a good marker for some people who do not test positive for CRPs or ESRs.
