Hi Louisa,

So sorry to hear about your flare -- especially with a tough month coming up. I can relate as I'm working on a masters -- and I'm really going to have my hands full with reading, research and writing in the next 4 - 5 weeks.

Sometimes, I think, a flare just has to play itself out -- but getting back to the diet and sticking to it will help. You'll come out of it eventually. For acute pain, you could take some naproxen or other NSAIDS to help you bear it when needed -- and getting those natural anti-inflammatory supplements might help, too -- like flax seed oil, omega 3 fish oils, glucosamine, sour cherry juice (which I've found is wonderful for peripheral symptoms - like those I get in my toes, heels and wrists). I'm not necessarily suggesting all of them at once, but using some of them might help, at least. I usually take my omega 3's right before bed time with selenium and Vit. E. Also, aloe vera juice for a bit might be helpful to get the stomach mucosa slippery and for healing. Like an ounce three times a day.

I have to admit, I've had a number of small indisrections on the diet lately, and I think the thing that is keeping me from flaring is the supplements I'm taking. I've been regularly drinking almond milks (almonds also are beneficial)with flax seeds and taking my omega 3's. Otherwise, there isn't a real good reason that I'm not flaring at least some -- because normally I have definite reactions whenever I stray from the diet.

Well, I hope this is helpful. I know you're probably on a student budget so I hope you don't feel overwhelmed by my list of supplements -- but you could try one or two perhaps. Of course, you may be already using some -- so maybe you then could add another or two.

Best wishes. Paula
