If you want to use this QR code (Quick Response code) just save the image and paste it where you want. You can even print it and use it that way. Coffee cups, T-Shirts etc would all be good for the QR code.

Un-freaking-believable, but I definitely DO believe it! Why, oh why, won't people-doctors listen to us when we say starches aggravate our bodies, but animals get listened to? I'm heading to the health food store Wednesday, so I'll look for the (John?) "Magnesium malate(?) . . . I looked in the wamlart vitamin section, but just something called magnesium chloride -- wrong stuff? Patty With my daughter (Chris) in Mexico, a month before AS kicked my butt! Hi Patty, YES!! I suffer from this problem constantly, unfortunately. Rest and heat seem to be the only things that help. Sue

Hi Patty.. I have the sciatic pain. I had back pain for years..on and off. And yet when I was dx with AS...first came the hands, the TMJ, the elbows locking up....THEN my sciatic pain and ever dreadful si pain. I have had the sciatic pain pre and post op. It never went away as I had hoped with the back surgery. I have a bulging disc at l3 and l4/l5 are fused. My si is fused. My neurosurgeon said it was due to the AS that the pain in my thighs would be there forever. How comforting no? I noticed you mentioned femeroral nerve pain in right thigh?? I have had pain in my right thigh that began AFTER my surgery. The left pain never left. But when I tried explaining to the docs they said it was post op nerve pain. Here it is almost a year..and still the pain continues. I always wondered if a nerve there was irritated. take care... Buggy

Buggy -
But I haven't had surgery there (well, I did have an inguinal hernia repair in Feb 2002), and the pain has been 4 years, except bad in the last few months. So I don't think I'd listen to what they tell you about post-op nerve pain.
I got a shot of cortisone last week -- just IM or sub-Q -- and it did wonders for the nerve pain -- ALL GONE!!!!!!!! They just did it in my arm -- I didn't want to go with the SI joints and live x-ray thing this time. This was my first time with that kind of shot (not in SIJ) and I'm a believer now. Cannot stand to take prednisone -- never again orally. Have you tried he shots of cortisone? Sure cures all the evil stuff fast!
Take care,
Patty

Hi Patty.. Yes, I have had cortisone shots..they have pulled me out of deep deep pain when needed. I had shots in my ribs when my costochondritis was causing me trouble breathing..and my knee, and my hips and my foot..foot not to be done again..yeouch!! But they were toradol..an antiflammatory. Helped me tremendously. I only had cortisone shot in my knee..and it hurt that first two days..then I could walk again... As for prednisone...eek! It made me VERY irritable. Very angry. My GP yanked me off of it after a month or so. And I was on a low dose too. I also met one of my doc's nurses who had been on predn for RA...and she already had the moon shaped face from it. I immediately could tell she was on pred before she told me. In her case though it allowed her to continue to work and her hands from deforming so it helped her. The sciatic pain I had BEFORE surgery. I have had it now for two years..hasnt stopped. Then when I had the surgery...I developed pain in my right leg too. But my neuro had warned me that the AS would flare big time if I had surgery...boy was that an understatement. It was the worst time of my life at the hospital. Arthritis does not like to be tampered with..cuts, incisions, etc. I've gotten used to the sciatic pain. But every few weeks it gets out of control..and that's my sign to slow down. Like today. I tried to do a little bit of xmas shopping. Even had my mom for help. But I couldnt lean down to pick up anything my baby was tossing in her path! It was time to hike it back home...or my like two step shuffle. I know I will definitely be doing the tuck and roll ...AS style tomorrow morning...out of bed. Hugs]]] Buggy

Sometimes the fingers on my right hand will curl inward and when it gets bad I can't straighten them mentally, only by pulling them back in position, and I've had cortisone shots in my palm at the base of whatever finger is troubling me. Not a pleasant 30 seconds - - there is some sort of anesthetic in the shot but it doesn't kick in for a bit - - but fixes the problem. Cheryl Sugar Magnolia wishes everyone a happy holiday season

That's exactly what my toes on the right foot were doing and while I could pull them back before I put my shoes on, they wouldn't stay that way. According to my neurologist, the toes curled under because that is the message sent to them by the nerve damage in my back.
Oh, if only I had a nerve problem that would allow me to wiggle my ears on demand.

George,
And WHY do you want to wiggle your ears on demand? Do women in your area find that hot?

Very funny response, love it. However, delighting the women up here is only of secondary importance. It's just that for years, I've tried to wiggle my ears and just can't do it. Now that I have a grandson who will be two in the summer, wouldn't it be great if I could do it?
Yes I know, just haven't grown up yet.
