I never really worry about anything that isn't associated with pain.
With that said, when my neck / head / upper back were really inflamed, the skin over the occipital muscle would crunch back and forth...that's an indication of inflammation.

Hi Everyone haven't been on for a long time.
Went through all the gringing, popping or cracking sound in my neck - not sure when it stopped. At my last Rheumies appointment in Nov. he asked me to turn my head to the left - thought I did geat - a normal turn to the left. I was informed that the severe decrease was the result of my AS progression. Actually likely the reason I gave up driving - because I couldn't check my blind spot - felt I was becoming a unsafe driver. My right side has decreased but not as severe as the left. Off to diet section and major change there.
How far can your neck go left and right? Also how long did it take to lose that range of motion? thanks!

Zero degrees x,y, zero degrees -z/z.
Most lost in the eight years after I began taking NSAIDs, but over 25 years all hope gone during one 20 hour surgery.
