>> yoghurt and cheese will be fine

Most people are fine with these it seems.

>> toast with butter and peanut butter.. the following day I ached really bad

Both will cause inflammation, yep!

Don't worry so much about sugar, unless you are having iritis or some other issue. It doesn't really bring on AS.

I'm still on a strict no-starch diet and I'm no sugar (exception being limes or lemons used in cooking) and no dairy (exception being butter) process as well.

While I've been asymptomatic for quite some time, I know the spondy is still active as when I experiment with some foods, the symptoms come creeping back. The last thing that triggered symptoms was a coconut water kefir that I thought was safe.

When it comes to ACV, I don't know how well it helps my spondy, but in the winter when I feel I'm about to get sick, I start taking apple cider vinegar tonics. I'm pretty sure it helps, as I'm almost never sick (knocks on wood) - I think I've only been sick 3 times in the last 6 years. For those of you where constipation is a problem, ACV tonics can help as well.

I'll keep the ACV in mind as I revisit experimenting with foods again.

I am about to start this now. Sadly my understand of what has starch is pretty limited. But I am working on removing it all from my diet, I am a big fruit eater but I guess I will be cutting out fruit now. Such a shame, that's a large part of what I eat. I guess I shall have olive oil meats and green leafs for awhile with ACV just to get the pain under control.

I think one should be strict with fruits, for example the only sugary substance I had in 3 weeks was an apple at night and in the morning I woke up at 4 am with stabbing pains in my lower back....

Not sure with veggies.....

I am not currently testing ACV since having a relapse with sugars... Further testing is required....

If you have to have sugar, a modest amount of select fruit should be OK. I would stay away from all refined sugars and from certain fruits such as stone-fruit, bananas, etc. They tend to be a little starchier? The only fruit I can tolerate are lemon, lime, blackberries, blueberries, and raspberries. I cook pretty regularly with lemons and limes, but very rarely (e.g. couple of times a year) eat berries. I would only eat fruit when they are in season and picked when they were truly ripe. Less likely to be starchy in that case.

I've been more or less on a sugar (including fruit) embargo for quite some time now. I struggled early because I wasn't eating enough non-starchy carbs. Make sure you get enough healthy fats and non-starchy carbs. That was an important lesson for me in my early days of experimenting.

I'm currently consuming 100g blueberries,100g raspberries, and 50g strawberries in a smoothie in the morning. Thats around 20g of sugar.
Beside this i eat around a decent amount of green vegetables, wich also contain a tiny amount of sugar.
I also consume a glas of kefir and a little homemade yogurt (fermented 24h so very little lactose)
So i guess i'm averaging around 30-40g of sugar throug veggies and berries a day.
I eat no fruit, honey or other sugar sources.

Would this be too much to see an effect of the ACV? Anyone else her experimented with this?

@boz I think you should be fine.....It seems you are having very low amounts of sugar.....check Kyle Mecca's video for more insight.... The "Sugar" in question is Processed refined sugar and sugar from lactose + sugar from high fructose fruits....

I only Tested ACV for 3 weeks....
