If you want to use this QR code (Quick Response code) just save the image and paste it where you want. You can even print it and use it that way. Coffee cups, T-Shirts etc would all be good for the QR code.

Any recommendations for a magnesium supplement that is non-starchy? A lot of posters here suggest magnesium is a godsend for AS, but visiting my local health food store every option seemed to have some form of starch, even the liquid magnesium supplements. For now I settled on Salus liquid magnesium: http://www.florahealth.com/product_conditions_usa.cfm?conditions_id=3&prod_id=210It is all-natural ingredients but the iodine test comes up grey/black. It contains some apricot and carrot juice which I suspect are the reason. I'm hoping it's like garlic - starchy, but the pros of taking it can outweigh the cons. Didier

I have not tried this supplement, but I get quite a few no starch vitamins and supplements for my daughter from this site: http://www.swansonvitamins.com/lifetime-vitamins-calm-calmer-ii-cherry-flavor-16-4-oz-pwdrSo far, everything I purchased through them that specifies no starch tested out with iodine. I don't like to make any sort of recommendation on it, since I haven't tested it myself, but you could also start asking your local health food store to consider carrying no starch supplements? I am seeing more and more available in my local pharmacies, so hopefully that means the manufacturers are starting to realize it's a problem for some! My daughter's doctor also suggested she take epsom salt baths, with the idea that the magnesium is absorbed transdermally, so avoiding the whole digestion route. No way of knowing what your dose would be, but a very easy, available, and inexpensive way to start until you find what you're looking for.

This is what I've been using for the past 4 years: http://www.amazon.com/Nutricology-Magnes...gnesium+citrateWhen I was figuring out what supplements to take, I tested everything with iodine. I think you'll have lots of NSD options with magnesium. The hardest NSD supplement for me to find was calcium. Good luck!

Have you looked at trying pure magnesium oil and then rubbng it under your footsoles for best absorption? Or maybe try doing Epsom salt foothbaths?
I think this migth be more effective since some gutcritters feed on magnesium and iron to be able to make protective biofilms for themselves. Absorbing through skin avoids it ending up in the gut as feed and makes sure You are the one benefitting from the magnesium.:)

I've read a post somewhere here about digestive enzymes. I can't find it with the search bar and am hoping someone knows of a good brand? Is it strange that my kelp caps, which specifically note,"no starch" test jet black? Or is it just a reaction of iodine on iodine? Good ideas for the magnesium, Dutchie.

Never, ever, ever trust "no starch" claims on pills... as I think they define starch very narrowly. I have had many such pills turn black with iodine. Find a "vitamin buddy"... someone who is willing to buy starchy pills off you for, perhaps, a discount. My husband generally inherits my pills that do not work. The best bet is to ask about specific supplements on here before purchasing. Instead of taking kelp pills, would you consider the food? This stuff adds a good amount of fiber to my diet and have eaten this brand for years without a problem: http://www.amazon.com/Maine-Coast-Vegeta...;keywords=kombuI have never found a digestive enzyme that was not starchy and have spent LOTS of money trying. Good luck.

Hi, Didier:
Before a 'procedure,' we drink a magnesium citrate solution that is just fine as a supplement--in much smaller dosages: About 2tbs daily should do the trick even when taking over 2g calcium daily.
I have seldom seen this above $2 in pharmacies and should last over a month at planned consumption rate.
HEALTH, John
