Climate change? Wasn't that global warming just a minute ago? A little sleight of hand, yes?

Kind Regards,

That is the volcano that spewed for quite some time in Iceland, yes? I didn't bother to "google" it. I don't use google. I search for things. I don't "google" them.

However, I do agree that we all need to be good stewards of our planet. It does not mean that one must become a hysterical environmental extremist or subscribe to specious theories about why the weather is at such extremes.

Additionally, if I recall correctly, that quake in Japan actually shifted the earth's axis close to a foot (30cm).

Kind Regards,
Jay

my cousins lost their house in the fire and my other cousins got evacuated. It's really scary in slave lake. If i was healthier I would fly out there in a heartbeat to help out the evacuation centres.

Nope Scientists have always called it climate change in real papers. Press and Gore got into the global warming thing and did real science a lot of damage as it became a political football.

too bad the science is very solid

I am not saying that we should use the world we live in as a toilet but some will not be happy til we are living in tee-pees and grazing along side the buffalo. The earth is not going anywhere. Now, as far as the people of the earth, we may be the next dinosaur of our time. Fact, 99% of all life that has ever existed on earth is extinct. What we see today is that 1% left over and still evolving. All the weather occurrences seem to be extreme but most of it is due to the fact that there is a lot more humans today than ever was and when something happens that strays from the norm weather wise, people get hurt. Climate does change and many scientist can point to this or that but they cannot definitively point to a cause. I will tell you one thing that no one has pointed out in the media to my knowledge is that one thing happened last year that is most probably causing the weather patterns we are seeing today. Past events have been observed and changes have been measured similar to the effects we are seeing today. I have one word for you guys to google.

Eyjafjallajökull

We have never seen the speed of this warming. no the science of climate change is very real. No single weather event, we agree, can be linked to a climate change but a pattern can.

This year we have a strong La Nina in the pacific and that is more responsible for US weather this year than the volcano

Climate change is real, yes. But I argue that humans have no effect on it whatsoever. The truth is that the earths temperature has been declining for the past 15 years. Just look at the previous ice ages, that in itself is proof that climate change must be cyclic. Think about the arithmatic. The earth has been around for 4.5 billion years.. humans have been around for what, 100,000 years? And we have been involved in industrial activity for 100 years? The planet has been through alot and we are arrogant enough to say that we have the power to destroy our planet? Its rubbish. CO2 is a natural compound. Its not a poullutant. And it is supposedly the thing that is ruining our planet?

There is a vast contingent of scientests out there that believe climate change is a scam. In fact 30,000 scientists are trying to sue al gore.

take the problem, reaction solution method..
Problem = global warming
Reaction = something must be done
Solution = tax.

The HAARP debate interests me alot. I heard that the New Madrid fault will be next .. this month. But I guess time will prove if it is true or not. Whatever the case, I think its important to be aware of all of this stuff and it is very interesting yet scary at the same time.

Hi Kat,
I agree, the news is getting too hard to watch. Major earthquakes, fires, floods, tsunamis, hurricanes are getting more and more frequent these days. When I think of these disasters I think about what can a person like me do to help.

I have always believed in global warming... even without the human population contributing to it.

That is more a sad commentary on the state of the US legal system (too litigious) than an endorsement for/against climate change in my opinion.
