The news is getting so hard to watch. So I thought I'd send a prayers/positive thought thread.

To all the people in Slave Lake, Alberta, whose homes have been destroyed by wildfire. I heard in one report that at least 1/3 of the town has been destroyed and there are over 20 wildfires raging in the province.

To all the people in Manitoba, along the Assiniboine and in the Red River Valley, whose homes are being devastated by record flooding.

To all the people along the Mississippi, whose homes are also being devastated by record flooding.

I watch the news and am helpless to help. And I know there's more going on worldwide. So, the best I can do right now is send out my thoughts of love.

If there's a disaster going on that you've heard about, post it here so we can all get that KA positive thought energy working.

Love and hugs,

Kat

I will second that! We've had awful wildfires, floods, and tornados in this area over the past month or so. My family has been fortunate to not get hit by anything. My heart goes out to those that do.

I have been thinking the same thing. Every time I see or hear the news, there seems to be another disaster. I wonder what is going on. Is it all connected in some way? All we can do if offer up our prayers and try to keep in touch with all the folks we know.

I'm thinking about and concerned for what my friends in Christchurch are still going through with earthquakes. We all heard about the big quakes - the two in Sept last year and Feb this year, but smaller quakes are still going on and still shaking some of the older houses to pieces. I check out the christchurchquakemap regularly, and in the last seven days another 30 quakes, of which 21 were magnitude 3 and up and 3 were over magnitude 4. Since the big February one there have been 97 quakes over a 4, and 9 over a 5.

Can't do anything much from over the other side of the world except send them positive vibes, and they are going out in bucketfulls.

Its terrible... I mean there was even a tornado in New Zealand the other day.. we dont get tornados. This was only like the second tornado we have ever had, the first one was over 100 years ago. Something about all of these natural disasters doesn't make sense. Why have there been so many in such a small amount of time? There is supposed to be a big earthquake along the new madrid fault line aswell :\

Perhaps the planet has had enough of humankind and what we've done. The conspiratorial side of me tells you to read up on HAARP and make up your own mind.

Whatever the case, I feel for all those suffering from these natural disasters and screw ups by man (e.g. BP spill in the Gulf, Fukishima meltdown(s)).

Kind Regards,
Jay

Yes, that New Madrid fault prospect makes for an interesting (read scary) scenario. Even more interesting are some "post quake" maps I've seen. Food for thought...

the climate is changing. And it will get worse over the next decades with more extreme weather. But remember Climate change is not real uhhhh yea right

As to Earthquakes. No more than usual according to the USGS but they are hitting in populated areas for a change. Mankind is wise to build big cities on top of the biggest earthquake faults in the world. Very good planning indeed.

This planet has been a frozen Popsicle and it also has been a huge hot house. The climate does change. It rains one day and sunny the next. For me, climate change as defined by some is a fear mongering business lead by those who would enslave others because of their enlightenment of the situation they perceive. I am not saying that we should use the world we live in as a toilet but some will not be happy til we are living in tee-pees and grazing along side the buffalo. The earth is not going anywhere. Now, as far as the people of the earth, we may be the next dinosaur of our time. Fact, 99% of all life that has ever existed on earth is extinct. What we see today is that 1% left over and still evolving. All the weather occurrences seem to be extreme but most of it is due to the fact that there is a lot more humans today than ever was and when something happens that strays from the norm weather wise, people get hurt. Climate does change and many scientist can point to this or that but they cannot definitively point to a cause. I will tell you one thing that no one has pointed out in the media to my knowledge is that one thing happened last year that is most probably causing the weather patterns we are seeing today. Past events have been observed and changes have been measured similar to the effects we are seeing today. I have one word for you guys to google.
