Manny M,

Here's a like to Jachymov's new website, which should answer many of your questions: http://www.laznejachymov.cz/eng-title/

Here's the link to a YouTube video I did back in 2007: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=selFTx7kTJ4 (sorry for the poor quality)

At the moment I'm paying 59 Euros per day (this includes room, all meals, all treatments-including radon baths/ massage/medical consultation etc...
This is the summer rate for the category of hotel I'm in--the highest is 80 Euro a day for a room/treatments at the Radium Palace and the lowest is 47 Euro a day for room/treatments at the Astoria Hotel. Minumum is 12 nights, but I always do the recommended 3 weeks.

Winter rates and off season rates are much much lower (which is why I usually do this in the winter months!)

By the way: there is absolutely no difference in the quality of treatments nor in the quality of the food--those who pay top price at Radium Palace (which I have done) eat the same exact food as those who are staying in the lowest category of hotel and get the same treatments. Even the beds/bedding is pretty much the same. The only difference I see is that in the Radium Palace the setting was much more beautiful and in some of the lower category hotels (like the Astoria) you had to go out of your hotel to another facility for meals and treatments... Hope this helps
Luigi

Hi Luigi:

Thanks for the info on the hotels etc in Jachymov. How do you get there? What city would you fly into and then do you bus to Jachymov? I'm just trying to calculate what the total cost would be.

Info appreciated,

John

Hey John,
I've done it a couple different ways. The first two times I flew to Prague and either took a bus to Karlovy Vary then another bus to Jachymov (cheap but a real nightmare...) or a taxi sent by the hotel (easy but expensive). This time we flew to Berlin, rented a car and drove--it's great to have a car here. Dresden, Germany is also not that far away. However, I think flights to Prague are probably the best way to go.

Hi John

That utube is great, thanks and I am so envious too. To be free of inflammation is HUGE and I am assuming it also works for ordinary arthritis - I just am scratching my head trying to work out 'how' it works.........

Tell me about the treatments. What is the place called?
How much does a treatment cost? How long does the treatment last, and how many times do you do the bath? I am very interested in the whole process. Is there a web address?

Luigi, thanks for the info! I have been following your trip details with great interest.

I will be passing through Prague in a couple weeks and was thinking about going out to the radon spa just for the day to check it out. If the place looks good - which I am sure it will - I can more easily convince my husband that we can come back for the full stay sometime soon (we would want to be able to bring our laptops and work remotely for that time period so a "look see" first is definitely ideal).

Based on your experience - do you think that they would show us around if we stopped in?

Thank for posting this info Luigi, you've answered many of the questions that I had after looking at the website - & one specifically concerning the fact that the treatment is the same no matter which hotel one stays at.
I had planned on taking a trip to Jachymov last year but due to circumstances, that whole trip fell through & Plan B went into operation with another visit to the Free enterprise mines in Montana.
Well, it now looks like the trip to the Radon palace is back on for January 2010. which has me very excited & maybe a bit apprehensive as well.
A couple I know are considering joining me for some of the time there which is fantastic...but if anyone else out there in KickAS land is thinking about making the trip, there will be at least one english speaking person on hand at that time.
Luigi, could you answer a question for me concerning the therapies - Are the treatments done all seven days of the week, or do you go Mon- Fri with weekends off? It would be really nice to spend a little bit of time checking out some of the fantastic castles & architecture, not to mention experiencing some of the culture while in the Czech Republic.

Thanks again for all the updates & information provided!

Cheers
Alex

Alex,
The treatments are daily except on Sundays.
Good luck to you and be prepared for some sub-zero temp.
