I have not tried to reduce starch, no. What I have done before is to reduce (or almost eliminate) sugar, and reduce fat, making it some sort of low calorie diet.

Sorry, I have not read the other replies to your post just yet so I may be repeating what has already been said.... but anyway....

If you want to lose weight and reduce your AS symptoms then you could try the No Starch Diet.

It's not unhealthy like the Atkins diet as you do still eat carbs... just not the starchy ones. So you can still have sweet fruit and lots of vegetables and also have sweet treats too. You can bake pancakes, muffins, cakes etc with coconut flour. Bacon and eggs for breakfast etc.

My hubby dropped 20kgs on this diet and he also pretty much eliminated his AS.

I suggest getting Carol Sinclair's book The IBS Low Starch Diet (she has AS and IBS). It's extremely helpful if you're just starting out on the diet... explains how and why it works and exactly what you can and can't eat.

All the best

Hi Moem,
Oregano oil (also referred to as oil of oregano) is:
Quote:

natural substance derived from Wild Oregano species. The Oregano plant grows in remote mountainous regions free of pollution. Only the leaves of the flowering plant are used. They are picked precisely when the Oregano plant is highest in essential oil

I don't purshase it from this company, but here is some info:
http://www.oiloforegano.com/

If you search on the Internet (eg. Google) there is lots of info. I buy it at the local health food store.

When I feel I am coming down with a cold, I used to take vit. C and echinacea, but now I prefer oregano oil.

Hope this helps.
Mary

Hi moem,
Be careful what you ask for! A kick? Haven't you had enough?
Judge not. Lest..
Too much of too much. so symetrical.
Part of my problem was the labeling and judgement. You can do it!
Give yourself a break. A spoonful of honey can satisfy a sweet tooth and fried onions a chip craving. The kick comes when you stray.
Activity in the form of excercise will give you momentum.
Chocolate before bed will make for wild dreaming.
Ike
