Hi

Welcome

I have a hairline fracture on L5. My Rheumy had an MRI of my left SI joint as he said he seen something in my xray. I am HLA B27 positive. I also have cysts between my lumbar disks on the right side, which they cannot operate on. My left SI joint is now acting up. Up to March of this year it was mostly on my right side.

My x-rays show sclerosis on L5 S1. the same report also says anterior vertebral spurring, but doesn't specify where unless it is also talking about the same area(?) by the way, what is your activity in this area? Wanda

Okay, are you going to tell us more about that road? You've got my curiousity piqued.

Hi Wanda, I posted a post to Mellie earlier that said I had no previous activity in my spine except a slight separation of my sacroiliac. However, Oct. 2005-2006 I was suffering from severe back pain in my L5, S1 which my rheumy said was unrelated to the A.S. (getting old, and weak abdominals?) ---it magically disappeared with the onset of a panamanian parasite (which I got rid of LOL) The pain is back again after 9 months, and now I'm not so sure. Thanks, Teresa

Oh yes, don't we all have most of the same symptoms. What isn't fused has deteriorated. My back is a mess; so twisted; one way from the waist up and the other from the waist down. PT is helping I think plus all the hints she is giving me about sleeping, sitting, standing, et. Our big problem is trying to get my rib cage to move My ribs are fused and I am breating into my stomach. I thought we had number 4 on the way.
It would be cool if I wasn't as old as I am but it is air in my stomach instead of lungs so we are working hard on getting them to expand.

Always something. Hope you get some relief.

Hugs and Blessings.
Rest well.

Hi Lady Z,

I have a facet joint problem at L5-S1, Oh it can be painflul. My dr. says it is because I have slight scoliosis and AS and I am lucky it took this long to bother me. That made me feel a whole lot better.
