If you want to use this QR code (Quick Response code) just save the image and paste it where you want. You can even print it and use it that way. Coffee cups, T-Shirts etc would all be good for the QR code.

Hello all members new and regular ! Non AS question..but can anyone suggest any good sinus/allergy meds? I am at my wits end. I have sinus pressure that is terrible. Slow drainage and my eyes are so puffed up it's not a pretty sight. I look like Ive been crying every day. Ugh. I have tried Benadryl, Congest-Aide, Tylenol severe Sinus & allergy and finally Claritin-D 24 hr. NO dice. I havent slept well for about a week and a half now. The bark is supposed to be a problem down here in Texas right now as there are many folks with allergies right now. I cant tell if it's allergies or sinus or a sinus infection. Rheumy nurse messed up my appt and sent me to wrong location today. Grr...so now I have to trudge me and 2 wee ones at 8 am and there is no sleep in sight. Cant taste food, and the sinus pressure is getting me nauseated. I have lost 2 meals once today and yesterday. The headache pressure is worse than I have had in years. Any suggestions would be welcome....please!

Have you tried the saline nose spray, it really helps no matter what meds you end up with you can use it often it is only water that is pure with a little saline in it and it will clear up some of the problems , I sympathize I have tried about everything some meds make it worse , maybe a doc can hook you up with something also vitamins help to fight any sinus problems and infections especially c and zinc but make sure and take vitamins on a full stomach with food, Hope you feel better everything is in bloom in N.C. and I am allergic to most of it! Peace and love to you and yours, Sbcook2 (another steve)

hi steve... you know what...i was going to do the nasal spray. i was at walmart earlier today contemplating which med to try next. my friend recommended chlormeratin or something to that effect..and the pharmacist thought the claritin d might work better and i was going to get nasal spray but thought i still had some at home. get home...all out! another trip tomorrow. i'm dreading the meds..i think you are correct. these last 2 i have tried made me feel worse and thats how i lost my meals. which is no fun. i have been taking my vitamins. i make sure i have a full stomach when i do! sounds like you are allergic to alot like me! the mold was bad, then oak, then fresh cut grass kills me, now bark!! spring and summer are supposed to be fun!! fiesta is here this weekend..oyster bake time! then king williams fair next saturday and i feel like a mac truck hit me!! i want to enjoy some good food but the taste buds are dead. gonna ask rheumy tomorrow morning if he can recommend a good med or script. thanks for the tips..

Sweetie, you might want to get a prescription for Nasonex. It's a steroid nasal spray. I used it for a while and my respirologist says I should use it all the time, as I'm in a constant state of congestion from my allergies. I did use it and it did help. I just didn't like inhaling steroids for the rest of my life (something about my nose being so close to my brain). But for short term relief, I'd go for it in a second!!
Hope you're feeling better soon, lovey.
Many hugs,
Kat

Hi guys, Have any of you tried Olbas oil, it's a natural oil made from essential oils. I've always found it VERY effective as I've had problems with hayfever and sinus since I was small. I've included a link that tells you a bit about it - http://www.florahealth.com/flora/home/canada/products/r1001.asphope it helps Louisa

Hi Kath! Well I didnt make it into my rheumy appt. They messed up twice with my appt. locations and I was a bit peeved at them. Mix that in with unbearable sinus pressure and they would not have wanted to see a grumpy bug this morning . After much hope that Claritin would help, I called my good ol' family doc. I love that doc. He knows my history well so nurse said either they'd squeeze me in or call something in. I told them I was sure it was an infection as I have had them in the past and the drainage is terrible and not going out but jammed in my nose. UGH Well, ta-da'...they called back. Nurse called in Amoxicillin and another decongestand and antihistimine. Family doc to the rescue yahoo!! I was so relieved as my eyes have circles under them now from the lack of steady sleep and puffed up like something scary. lol I will keep a note on that spray you mentioned too!! Hugs]] BUg

You know that this may be more related to AS thank you think? Allergies are common with people with LGS and since that is what most likely causes AS-enough of that... This will sound really weird, but after yrs of rounds of anitbiotics to keep the sinus troubles under control, I started doing saline nasal washes and using a vibrator on my sinuses. A flat one is the best, plug in, so it has power. Do the wash first, a netti pot is the best way since it uses gravity and the saline sprays are really too forceful. Then hold the vibrator in your hand and massage all over the sinus areas above and below your eyes. It feels weird, but you will be able to feel all the stuff loosening up and letting go. Massage for about 5 minutes and then do another saline wash. Use the massage during really bad periods twice a day and the saline wash all the time. The Nasonex is great, as is Flonase, but both have steroids in them, so if you stop using them, you can have rebound swelling. Good luck.

Hi there,
My dad and sister get bad sinus pressure, and a nose specialist recommended something called sinucleanse (not sure it that is spelled right). Anyhow, you mix a salt/baking soda solution and use a small container (included in kit) to pour the solution into one nostril, and it comes out the other. I know it sounds totally gross, and I was so reluctant to try it, but it did help. It really clears out whatever mess is in there. And it doesn't sting if the solution is mixed with the right proportions. I know physicians who use this themselves. Just a suggestion,
Em
