I started LDN about three weeks ago. My rheumy had never heard of it, looked it up and said 'no'. My GP (who is part of a holistic medical centre) said yes straight away having prescribed it in the past. He gave me 4.5mg per day and I started at 2.25mg for a few days and then went to 4.5mg. Felt headachy the first two days and pain was a little worse. Noticed a difference after about a week. My AS is reasonably well managed with strict NSD (pain is about a 2/10 most of the time) but LDN has meant that I'm a 0 or 1/10 in the latter part of the day. It is reasonably expensive (I'm in New Zealand) and cost $NZ250 ($US210)for a 3 month prescription. For the last week I've taken 4.5mg every second day as a lot of the reading I've done suggested this is just as effective (and it halves the cost). Seems to be fine so far. I'm on no other meds, having stopped methotrexate and sulfasalazine when I started NSD.
