I am new here on kickas.org, so please excuse my ignorance. Last week I was diagnosed with AS and do not know what to do. I am writing this in hopes of getting some direction. My doctor is no help. The doctor told me that I do not need to see a rheumatologist, and she will just take care of it. She is, basically, telling me it is not that big of a deal. I was told to take Ibuprofen 3 times a day and that is it. She told me nothing of the disease. I only know what I know because of my own research. She did recommend that I see a gastrologist. I am concerned about what is down the road. This has just started a few months ago, so I believe I am just in the beginning. My HLA-B27 is positive but I was told my pelvic screening was clean. I had only one x-ray in the front for my pelvis and none of my back.
I am a 35 year old male that was pretty active up until a few months ago. I am feeling horrible. I have fatigue, stiffness, soreness, and the list goes on. I have had a lot of stomach problems for the past two years but on and off since childhood. I have lost more than thirty pounds in the past two years. I almost have constant abdominal pain but, in addition, I am now fighting the back pain, SI pain, hip pain, etc. (AS stuff). I found AS when a friend of mine told me to go on a starch free diet. It helps only a little bit. I need help because I do not know where to start or what to do. Can I please get some help? Thank you in advance.
