Certainly looks scary. The doctors did mention about intestinal leisons but were apparently unable to determine the cause after biopsy ruled out cancer and infections. I think the diagnosis never went on the lines of rheumatology(not sure), and I beleive she was treated unsuccessfuly with antibiotics till the end. Looks like your sister had a diagnosis of crohn's which allowed a colectomy that saved her life.
