Annabel,
I started on Enbrel a little over 3 weeks ago and I am really hoping that I'm not just experiencing a subsiding in this 5-6 month flare-up I've most recently had. I will tell you though, in the last week the spasms have stopped for the most part and I most definately have a little more flexibility. I'm doing 2 injections a week (50mg disposables) and other than putting up with the burning for the few seconds while you're injecting, it's not bad. I thought the stomach shots would be worse than the thigh, but it's actually a lot easier. I've heard about being more susceptible to infection, but I think that just makes you a little bit more aware to maintain better hygiene. And, that ain't a bad thing anyway. I also have moderate sleep apnea and have been wearing a C-PAP for several months as well. I just have to keep cleaning the hoses and mask, which do become a little musty at times. But no problems to date and I'm starting to feel pretty optimistic. It's too early for me to tell you whether your Dad should start or not, but so far I'm pretty happy. We're all different and there's no guarantee that Enbrel or Remicade will work for everyone. I had the choice of either and went with the Enbrel figuring the injections were more convenient than taking the half day for the infusion.
